Ronnie Evans, is a Vice President with Key Bank in their equipment finance division responsible for the marine sector in the southern and eastern region of the country. Mr. Evans has almost 20 years in the equipment finance industry with most of that time in senior level positions specializing in transportation. Louisiana State University, B.A. Business Administration, Member of the AWO since 2009.
Byron Kives is the Senior Underwriter for JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. Middle Market Banking in New Orleans, LA. After graduating from Louisiana State University with an MBA in 1991, he began his career with National Westminster Bank PLC (now Royal Bank of Scotland) in Houston, TX, where he specialized in lending to larger independent and major oil & gas companies. In 1995, Mr. Kives joined Bank One, N.A. (a JPMorgan Chase predecessor bank) in New Orleans as a Commercial Loan Officer. He then became an Assistant Vice President at Hibernia National Bank (now Capital One) in the Energy/Maritime Department. Since joining JPMorgan Chase in 1998, he has served over the past 15 years in a number of positions including Capital Markets Specialist (1999-2000), Credit Underwriter (2000-2012) and Senior Underwriter (2012-present).
Charlie is a Senior Vice President with Wells Fargo Equipment Finance, Inc. (WFEFI), a division of Wells Fargo Bank, Mr. Lee is the commercial marine lending specialist for WFEFI and has nationwide marketing responsibilities Over the last 4 years Mr. Lee’s unit has financed over $500 million of new equipment loans and leases in the Jones Act trade. He received a B.S. in Engineering from the University of Alabama and attended the MBA program of the University of Pittsburgh. Charlie has held senior leadership roles and has been active in commercial marine financing for 20 years, with over 25 years of total experience in the financial services market, including senior roles at Bankers Trust and CIT Group. Wells Fargo is active in the American Waterways Operators (AWO) and the Offshore Marine Service Association (OMSA). Charlie and his wife live in the Cincinnati area.
Joseph Markey, is a Senior Vice President and District Credit Officer for KeyBank in New York City and Hudson Valley where he is responsible for risk management of the Corporate Banking, Business Banking and Private Banking businesses. Prior to his current position, Markey was a Managing Director and Team Leader of KeyBanc Capital Markets Regional Corporate Banking Business in New York City and the Transportation & Logistics banking practice, including a focus on the U.S. domestic marine industry. He has been involved in debt and equity financings of over $1BN for marine transportation companies. Prior to joining Key in 2002, Markey was a senior vice president and director for Wachovia Securities in New York City where he worked as a banker in the industrial and business services industry groups. Markey also worked at The Bank of New York and Daiwa Bank. Markey holds a B.A. in economics and M.B.A, from the University of Connecticut, and a M.A. in Religious Studies from St. Joseph’s Seminary, Institute of Religious Studies in Yonkers, NY. He holds his Series 7 and 63 licenses.
Mark is a lending officer with Wells Fargo Equipment Finance, Inc. (WFEFI), a division of Wells Fargo Bank. Over the last two years, Mr. Nicholls has been a member of WFEFI’s LDR Group whose focus is the underwriting and account management of WFEFI’s largest and most strategic relationships across all industries. Mr. Nicholls has been actively involved in the marine space since 2010 having worked with industry leaders in inland transportation, dredging, marine construction and offshore oil and gas services providers. Mr. Nicholls received a B.S. in Finance from Gannon University and is working towards his MBA with Arizona State University. Mr. Nicholls has over 15 years of commercial lending experience, including management roles with the CIT Group, Hewlett Packard and Deutsche Financial Services. Mark and his wife live in the Phoenix area. Mark Volk is a senior vice president and territory manager for Chase Equipment Finance. He is responsible for providing equipment financing solutions to mid and large-sized corporations throughout Texas and Louisiana. He is also the head of the Marine Financing team, which is focused on meeting the specialized equipment financing needs of clients in the marine sector. Mark has originated closed and funded over $500,000,000 in equipment financing/leasing with Chase Equipment Finance over the last 2 years in Houston Texas. With more than 28 years of experience in the equipment financing industry, Mark is committed to providing his clients with customized tax and non-tax-oriented financing solutions. David Krapf David Krapf has been editor of WorkBoat, the nation’s leading trade magazine for the inland and coastal waterways industry, since 1999. He is responsible for overseeing the editorial direction of the publication. Krapf has been in the publishing industry since 1987, beginning as a reporter and editor with daily and weekly newspapers in the Houston area. He also was the editor of a transportation industry daily in New Orleans before joining WorkBoat as a contributing editor in 1992. He has been covering the transportation industry since 1989. He has a degree in business administration from the State University of New York at Oswego, and also studied journalism at the University of Houston.
Mr. Paine is the National Finance Manager of TCF Equipment Finance’s Commercial Marine Group. His area of responsibility is North American in scope with a concentration on US. Flag operators. Formerly Mr. Paine was the Chief Executive Officer of Marine-Finance.Com, LLC, a New York-based consulting practice specializing in commercial marine lending, leasing and alternate sources of capital. Mr. Paine’s maritime credentials are well established having held senior lending positions with the marine groups of debis/Daimler-Chrysler Credit, The Associates Commercial Corp., CitiCapital div., CitiGroup, General Electric Credit Corp. and Key Equipment Finance. Past and present professional associations include the American Waterways Operators (AWO); Passenger Vessel Association (PVA), New York Maritime Association (NYMA) and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME). Mr. Paine is a frequent contributor to maritime industry publications and was awarded the PVA’s David Clark Award for Editorial Excellence in 2007. He received a B.S. from New York University and holds certificates in multiple engineering and financial disciplines
